Reverse Engineering

Reverse engineering is a process by which a physical object is converted into a digital format allowing either a technical functional optimization or a design upgrade.

It usually follows some of these steps:

    • Get the outside and inside shape of the part through 3D scanning technologies such as industrial computed tomography (CT) scanners, portable laser scanners and other volume scanning technologies;

  • Recorded data is used to create 3D computer-aided design (CAD) drawings for modeling and structural development;
  • The 3D end file generated, can be applied directly on a manufacturing process, as part of a continued enhanced project improvement.
